The Central University of Odisha (CUO), located in Koraput, was established in 2009 under the Central Universities Act, 2009. It is one of the 16 new central universities set up by the Government of India to expand access to quality higher education in less developed regions. CUO is a UGC-recognized institution and plays a vital role in providing educational opportunities in tribal and rural areas of southern Odisha.
