Emarti Devi Women’s College, Cuttack, 

🏫 Overview & Background

Founded on 18 August 1980 by the Joharimal Public Charitable Trust in memory of Late Smt. Emarti Devi, this college was envisioned to empower women through higher education. Starting with just 55 students, it has since grown into a prominent institution, now affiliated with Rama Devi Women’s University, and recognized by the UGC. It earned a NAAC ‘B’ grade in 2005.

🎓 Academic Programs & Intake

Pre-University (+2)

• Streams: Arts, Commerce, PCM, PCB

• Current enrollment: ~448 female students 

Undergraduate Degree Programs (Full-time, 3 years under Utkal University)

• B.A. Honours: History, Home Science, Political Science, Odia, Hindi, Sociology, English (~24–32 seats each) 

• B.Com.: General and Accountancy honours (~108 currently enrolled) .

• B.Sc.: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology – full-time options offered .

Total UG enrollment stands at approximately 700–1,100 female students, supported by around 30 teaching staff .

🏛️ Campus & Infrastructure

• Located in Nayasarak, Chandini Chowk, Cuttack – PIN 753 002, on an urban plot allotted by the Cuttack Development Authority .

• Facilities include:

  • Library (with book bank, 4 books/student)

  • Computer and subject-specific labs (Home Science, languages, etc.)

  • Common rooms, cafeteria, medical provisions

  • Wi‑Fi-enabled campus 

  • Active units: NCC, NSS, YRC, Bharat Scouts & Guides

• Led by Dr. Shashwati Saumya Sahu as Principal, with ~30 faculty and 20+ non-teaching staff

• Emphasis placed on soft-skills, cultural events, seminars, social service, and spiritual growth .

• Admission through Odisha SAMS counselling (merit-based, no entrance tests required) .

• Approximate +2 and UG fees:

  • BA/BCom/BSc annual: ₹12,000–₹13,000 per year
